10 List of What To Do And Not To Do During An Anxiety Attacks
Most of us came across an anxiety attacks at one time or another in our life. Strangely enough we didn't even know that we were under anxiety attacks. What are the do's and don'ts when we are under attacks?
1) Please tell yourself that you are not dying.
If you are thinking that you are going to die, then it will aggravate more fear which lead to more anxiety. It is going to make your situations worse rather than solving it.
2) Do not breathe from your chest. Take a deep breath from the abdomen.
Breathing from the chest during an anxiety attacks will make you feel dizzy and also numbness in certain parts of the body. You are supposed to take a deep breath from the abdomen.
3) Keep thinking positively.
It is natural for you to have negative thought during the attack such as I am fainting now or I cannot breathe. Try to turn the situation around since negative thinking will breed fear and worsen your situation.
4) Be on the positive side.
Positive thinking would help yourself to overcome your anxiety problem easier. Tell yourself that this is just temporary and you are going to get through this soon.
5) There are health care professionals that are ready to help you.
Your own family doctors, counselors, psychologist, psychiatrist and mental health professionals should be able to advise you on how to cope with anxiety attacks.
6) People who are close to you like your spouse, children or trusted friends deserve to know and share your problems.
It is very important for you to share your problems with trusted people around you such as spouse and good friends. Sharing problems with them will make it easy for you to cope with your situations.
7) Stick to the medication schedule that was prescribed to you by your doctor. Get your medication on time and follow the routine that was advised by your health care professionals.
Don't be helpless.
You have all the help you need out there. Put yourself together. Take charge of yourself, be positive get into action gear and go. You have the right to live a happy and worry free life.
9) You are not the only one with anxiety problems.
There are many people out there who have the same experience as yours. Find a support group in your area. You will be surprised to find that there are many people in your shoes. Support group will help to support you emotionally and exchange ideas and experience.
10) Continue the learning process. Knowledge is power.
There are abundant of learning materials that you can benefit from. Countless to say from printed materials such as books and magazines to electronic materials such as CD's and DVD's
